Out on the county fair ovals there is a contest that looks like no race at
all: a pickup tows an open trailer and goes round without ever stopping, and the winner is
the first driver to get their car aboard and hold it still. It is not about being
fast. It is about reaching the ramp, matching the speed and driving up straight, with four other
people trying the very same thing beside you.

HOW TO PLAY
The trailer has room for one car. Whoever gets there second climbs up anyway and
shoves the first one off, and everybody is doing it to everybody.
Reach the ramp. The pickup runs at about seventy and never stops. Your car is a good
deal faster, so the trouble is not catching it but arriving tidy.
Line up in the channel. Two guide lines show up behind the trailer. When they turn
green you are straight and at a sane speed to climb.
Climb with a little extra. You want to be just barely faster than the trailer. Come
in flying and you run out of deck and fall off the front.
Brake up there and pin the car. The bar fills while the whole car is on the deck and
stays still. There are no rails to lean on, and in the corners the trailer pulls you outward,
so hold the handbrake: up on the deck it is what keeps the wheels from sliding.
Look after the bodywork. Every hit dents, and a dented car loses speed and steering,
so mistakes cost you twice. At zero you are out and they win.
